Summer in South Jersey hits different — and so does your morning cup when it's 90° outside.
At Rimfire Roasters, we believe great coffee doesn't take a season off. Whether you're sipping on the porch in Swedesboro or heading out to a local vendor fair, we've got your warm-weather coffee game covered. Here's how we're brewing this summer — and what we're loving in the bag right now.
Cold Brew: Slow, Smooth, and Worth the Wait
Cold brew is the ultimate summer coffee. Coarsely grind your favorite Rimfire beans, combine with cold filtered water at a 1:8 ratio, and let it steep in the fridge for 12–24 hours. Strain, dilute to taste, and pour over ice. The result? A silky, low-acid concentrate that's as refreshing as a breeze off the Delaware Bay.
Pro tip from Scott: Use a medium-dark roast for cold brew — the longer steep time brings out rich chocolate and caramel notes without any bitterness.
Iced Pour-Over: Bright, Clean, and Ready in Minutes
If you want something fast and vibrant, the iced pour-over is your move. Brew a double-strength pour-over directly over a glass packed with ice. The hot coffee chills instantly, locking in all those bright, floral, and fruity notes before they fade. It's the method that really lets a single-origin coffee shine.
This is one of our favorite ways to highlight the nuance in our small-batch roasts — the kind of detail that only comes from roasting in small quantities with care and intention.
Iced Americano: The Classic Refresher
Simple, bold, and endlessly satisfying. Pull a double shot of espresso and pour it over a tall glass of ice, then add cold water to taste. The iced Americano is the go-to for espresso lovers who want something cool without losing that deep, roasty character. Add a splash of oat milk if you're feeling fancy.
🌿 Summer Spotlight: Emberlight Decaf Colombian Royal Select MWP
Here's a little secret: decaf doesn't have to mean dull — especially in summer.
Our Emberlight Decaf Colombian Royal Select MWP is processed using the Mountain Water Process, which removes caffeine naturally without harsh chemicals, preserving all the flavor complexity you'd expect from a premium Colombian bean. Think smooth milk chocolate, gentle citrus brightness, and a clean, satisfying finish.
It's the perfect choice for afternoon iced coffee when you want all the flavor and none of the late-night buzz. Cold brew it, pour it over ice, or make a decaf iced Americano — it holds up beautifully in every method.
Rooted Right Here in South Jersey
Rimfire Roasters was born from a love of craft, community, and a really good cup of coffee. Scott and Shelly started this nano-roastery right here in Swedesboro, NJ, with a commitment to sourcing exceptional beans and roasting them with the care and attention that only a small, family-owned operation can offer. Every bag that leaves our roastery is a reflection of that passion.
We named our roastery in honor of Eli "Rimfire" Hamrick — a nod to the grit, character, and local spirit that we try to bring to everything we do.
